Gurarat in Western India has a number of unusual sanctuaries - the Gir National Park, the last habitat of the Asiatic lion; the bare saline flats in the Rann of Kutch, home of the Indian wild ass and the spectacular Flamingo Island. Another interesting sanctuary is the magnificent Keoladeo Ghana National Park (Bharatpur Birds Sanctuary) with its incredible varieties of birds, easily accessible from Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.
